Latanya Billups Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Ms. Latanya Billups. Latanya worked in the Martinsville City Public School System for many years. She was an active member of the Martinsville High School Band and Band Booster for over 35 years. Latanya played an instrumental role in supporting and encouraging the members of the MAVAHI Marching Band. This scholarship was established to honor her hard work and dedication to the Martinsville High School Band Program and its members.
This scholarship will be awarded to an individual currently performing in the MHS Concert Band, Jazz Band or MAVAHI Marching Band. The applicant MUST be attending a four year college or university to be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria
Applicant must be a Martinsville High School Senior. and currently be in the Concert Band, Jazz Band or MAVAHI Marching Band
Applicant must have good academic standing (3.0 or higher) and exhibit strong moral principles.
Applicant must have completed 20 hours of community service.
Applicant must submit a completed application.

Scholarship Amount
One $500.00 scholarship per school year will be awarded to a student.

Scholarship application deadline
All applications must be submitted no later than Friday, March 13, 2026.

Scholarship selection process
All applications will be reviewed by an appointed scholarship committee. The applicant that best meets the established criteria will be selected to receive the scholarship. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by April 15, 2026.
The check will be made directly to the institution the recipient will be attending and will be non-transferable.
